What does a mobility scooter cost?
Check the current model page for the starting price in euros, including VAT. Ask for a quotation for the complete configuration: battery, seating, adaptations, delivery and any other selected options. Confirm warranty, maintenance arrangements and return conditions before buying. An advertised maximum range need not be included in the lowest-priced version.
If you are considering payments over time, compare the current terms and total cost. If you need municipal support, your municipality assesses eligibility and the appropriate provision. A Dutch Wmo or PGB application does not automatically fund a particular model. Read the Dutch Wmo guidance before buying something you intend to claim back.
Dutch road rules
For a vehicle that qualifies as a Dutch disability vehicle, no driving licence, registration plate or helmet is required; liability insurance is required. If it can exceed 10 km/h, the usual minimum age is 16, with an exemption procedure for younger drivers. The vehicle category matters, not just its appearance or advertised speed.
The maximum speeds for this category are 6 km/h on the pavement, 30 km/h on a cycle or moped path inside built-up areas, 40 km/h on those paths outside built-up areas, and 45 km/h on the carriageway. Try the fit before choosing
During a demonstration, try getting on and off, using the controls, braking, reversing and turning. Discuss your usual journey and storage space. If someone will travel with you, check the intended passenger configuration and permitted load together. If you plan to carry the scooter by car, try the loading process in your own vehicle.
